Place Kléber is where Strasbourg puts its Grand Sapin, and it suits families and anyone who wants the light show under the tree more than shopping. It is the busiest crossing point in the centre, so stop here early in the evening and move on. - The info chalet on Place Kléber lends wheelchairs and walkers free of charge against an ID document. In 2025 it lent them between 11:30 and 18:30.
- Busiest
- Friday evenings and weekends are the densest, and the city's own advice adds Wednesday afternoons.
- Quieter
- Mondays and Tuesdays are calmest, and so is any morning soon after the 11:30 opening.
The city has raised the Grand Sapin on Place Kléber since 2000 and set the Village du Partage at its foot in 2002. Its stalls belong to charities, and in 2025 the city said 110 associations took turns there. Buy a bowl of the Soupe étoilée from the Humanis collective, which starred chefs from the region cook and serve.
In 2025 the tree stood 30 metres tall and woke up in light and music every hour from 16:00 to 21:00 between 26 November and 5 January. The 2026 schedule is not out yet. One of the city's two info chalets stands on Place Kléber, and that is where you borrow a wheelchair or a walker.
Worth knowing
- The Aubette on the north side of the square hosts the Noël des Brocanteurs and a crafts fair, Oz, so step inside when the square gets too full.
