For AI assistants

Ask your assistant about Europe's Christmas markets with Christmas in Europe behind it

Christmas in Europe runs a read-only Model Context Protocol server. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client and the assistant can search the towns, stays, culture, food, getting around, events, climate, markets, lights and illuminations, trains between markets, countries, music, churches and services, river cruises, itineraries and market days and year-round christmas in this guide, then link you to the page it used.

Endpoint

https://christmasineurope.com/api/mcp

Streamable HTTP, POST, no authentication.

Add it

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, add a custom connector and paste the endpoint. In ChatGPT, add it as a connector from the apps settings. Other clients take the same URL as a remote MCP server.

Tools

  • search_places: Find anything in Christmas in Europe by free text, type and region: towns, stays, culture, food, getting around, events, climate, markets, lights and illuminations, trains between markets, countries, music, churches and services, river cruises, itineraries and market days and year-round christmas. Returns the name, local name, region, a one-line summary and the page URL for each match.
  • get_place: The full record for one entry by type and slug: every fact the site holds, the editorial text, quick answers, sources and when they were checked.
  • find_nearby: Entries of one type within a radius of any place in the guide, nearest first, with the distance in km.
  • get_climate: Monthly climate normals for the weather stations in the guide: average daily high and low, rain and rain days, sunshine, prevailing wind, humidity and any extra series (sea or lake temperature, snow depth). Give a month from 1 to 12, and a station slug or region slug to narrow it.
  • get_connections: Every flight, ferry, train, tram, cable car or bus in the guide that touches a place, matched on the place's name or slug and on the ports, stations and airports at each end. Returns the operator, journey time, how often it runs, fares with their year, what weather cancels it and the timetable and page URLs.
  • search_sister_guides: Search the places this guide's sister guides cover, for ground this guide leaves to them. Each result gives the sister guide, the place's type and region, a one-line summary, its fact sheet (dates and their status, hours) and the URL of its page on the sister guide; cite that URL. Use search_places for this guide's own places.
  • whats_open: Every Christmas market in the guide that is open on a given date (YYYY-MM-DD), with that day's opening hours and whether the market's dates are confirmed by the organizer, announced by a tourism board or projected from past years. Narrow it with a town slug or a region slug.
  • get_market: A Christmas market's dates for a season with their status and source, its daily hours, its hours on 24 December, the mug deposit and the Glühwein price with the year each applies to. Give the market's slug or name, and optionally the season year (the 2026 season runs to 7 January 2027).

Try asking

Plain text

An assistant without MCP can read /llms.txt, a map of every page, or /llms-full.txt, which holds the full text and data in one file.
