Budapest Christmas Market at Varoshaza Park

Budapest moved its official market to the park behind the City Hall in 2025 and spread it onto Deák tér next door. The ice rink is the draw, with skate hire and a warming room, and in 2025 it stayed open until 31 January, three weeks after the stalls packed up. Light projections played on the Merlin Theatre and the City Hall, and the city held Advent candle lightings on all four weekends.

The stalls lean toward small gifts: ceramics, Christmas ornaments, handmade leather, alpaca and dried-flower pieces, marzipan figures. On the food side you will find forralt bor specials, kürtőskalács baked over charcoal, soups and lángos, plus honey and chocolate to carry home. Budapest Vásárcsarnokai, the company that runs the city's market halls, organizes it.
