The tree on Werdmühleplatz is a stage, and the singers stand on its tiers. More than 40 choirs take turns through the season, and the organizer pays none of them, so you hear school choirs and church choirs as well as polished ensembles. Around it sits a small Wiehnachtsmärt with a fondue chalet and a carousel for children at CHF 3 a ride.
Time your visit to a concert. On weekdays the sets start at 17:30 and 18:30, with an extra 19:30 set on Fridays, and weekends add afternoon sets at 14:30 and 15:30.
