Graz Tourismus calls the Altgrazer Christkindlmarkt the oldest market in the city. It fills the narrow lanes beside the Franciscan church, just west of the Hauptplatz, and leans on country crafts and food from the Styrian GenussRegionen, the areas the province names for their local produce. Look out for the glass tree decorations from Thuringia.
Stalls open 11:00 to 19:00 from 20 November to 24 December 2026. The food huts run later, and Holding Graz and Graz Tourismus give slightly different times for them: one says 12:00 to 21:45, the other 11:00 to 21:45. On Christmas Eve the market opens 10:00 to 14:00.
Worth knowing
- Come in daylight if you want to look at the ornaments properly; the lanes get crowded after 17:00.
- Pair it with the Hauptplatz market a block east, then walk on to the Kinderadvent on Kapistran-Pieller-Platz if you have children with you.
