Kitzbühel's market sits in the heart of the old town, along the Hinterstadt and in the Stadtpark. In 2025 Kitzbühel Tourismus counted more than 30 stalls and stretched the season to 31 market days. Look for tree decorations and carved wood, and watch makers like the Hauser woodturners at work.
The food runs from crêpes and sweet pastries to Tyrolean dishes, with punch and Glühwein to hold. Every market day a local group plays from 18:00 to 19:00, which is the time to be there once the lights come on.
A carousel turns every market day, and on Thursdays at 16:30 someone reads fairy tales to the children. At the Christkindl post office they can write their wish lists on the spot, and pony rides run from Friday to Sunday. St Nicholas comes to the Stadtpark on 6 December at 17:00.
The market keeps going after Christmas. It opens 14:00–20:00 on both Christmas holidays and closes for the season on Sunday 27 December, which suits skiers arriving for the holidays.
Worth knowing
- Check the day before you go; outside 8, 21 and 22 December the market stays shut on Mondays and Tuesdays.
- Take the gondola up for the Mountain Advent at the Hahnenkamm on 4 or 18 December, from 16:00.
- Book a room in town during the market and ask for the Advent offer, which includes two mugs with a hot drink each per person.
