Trento splits its market between two squares. Piazza Fiera sits against a surviving stretch of the medieval city wall, and Piazza Mostra opens out in front of the Castello del Buonconsiglio. Walk between them through the old town streets and you pass the cathedral square on the way.
Come hungry. The food huts lean on Trentino mountain cooking, from canederli to tortèl di patate, and the wine huts pour from Trentino cellars. Vin brûlé is the Italian name for mulled wine, and you drink it from the market's ceramic mug.
