The Marktplatz in Ludwigsburg was laid out for a ducal residence town, with arcades along its sides and two churches that face each other across it. In Advent the stalls cover it, and enormous glittering angels hang their wings over the lanes. Come after dark, when the angels carry the light and the church fronts glow behind them.
Since 2025 the market has also spilled onto Arsenalplatz, just south of the Marktplatz. That is where the carousel and the Blübähnle children's train sit, and the food and drink stalls there stay open until 22:00, or 23:00 on Friday and Saturday. The organizer runs its own stand, number 101, where Glühwein costs €4.95 and the logo mug sells for €2.
The stalls lean to crafts. The 2025 plan listed carved pyramids and nutcrackers, hand-painted glass baubles and mugs from the Hasenmühle pottery. In 2025 the city also ran a nativity trail through its churches and a daily half-hour pause for quiet in Advent, so check the 2026 programme when it comes out.
