The town's artisans take over the Trinkhalle on the Auböckplatz and sell what they make themselves, alongside local food and drink. Music begins at 15:30 each day. In 2025 a separate food village stood next door, open from 15:00 to 21:00 on Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 11:00 to 21:00 Friday to Sunday, and it carried on into January after the craft hall closed.
Bad Ischl decks its streets in what it calls imperial Christmas lights from the end of November. The town makes a good base for the Salzkammergut in Advent, with the Wolfgangsee villages to the west and Hallstatt to the south.
Worth knowing
- Go on 8 December if you want a market on the holiday without Hallstatt's crowds.
- Konditorei Zauner on the Pfarrgasse is a short walk from the Trinkhalle and opens daily from 08:30 to 18:00.
