Couples marking an occasion get Vienna's classic grand hotel here, with Café Sacher in the building and the State Opera across the street. It costs accordingly, and the hotel publishes no room rates online.
Highlights
- Directly behind the State Opera, with Karlsplatz/Oper station at the door
- Christmas Eve and Christmas Day menus in the ballrooms and Café Sacher
- Sacher Boutique Spa with hammam and sauna
Hotel Sacher opened behind the State Opera in 1876 and now runs 152 rooms and suites with marble bathrooms. Co-owner Alexandra Winkler designed them with Pierre-Yves Rochon. Karlsplatz/Oper station sits at the door for the U1 and U4, which makes Rathausplatz a short ride and Wien Hauptbahnhof a direct one on the U1. On foot, the Art Advent stalls at Karlsplatz and the Stephansplatz market are the closest. The breakfast buffet runs from 07:00 to 11:00, and Café Sacher stays open until 23:00 for a slice of torte once the markets shut.
The hotel serves set menus over Christmas. Dinner on 24 December 2026 is five courses at €445 a person, and lunch or dinner on 25 December is four courses at €325, both with wine pairings included. Children aged 6 to 12 get a three-course holiday menu for €59. Reserve the table when you book the room.
Worth knowing
- Children stay free on an extra bed in a Junior Suite or larger, and the Petit Sacher package adds children's dishes in every restaurant.
- Valet parking costs €45 a night, so arrive by train if you can.
