The Stiftskirche suits anyone at the Stuttgart market who wants half an hour of quiet, because its organists play Advent music at lunchtime and brass choirs play from its tower on weekend evenings. Its services are worship, and visitors join them as guests of the parish.

The Stiftskirche stands on Schillerplatz with the Christmas market right up against its walls. From 30 November to 22 December 2026 the Stiftsmusik organists and guests give a half-hour of Advent organ music at 13:15, Monday to Saturday in the Stiftskirche and on Sundays in the Schlosskirche across the square in the Altes Schloss. The organ is a Mühleisen instrument.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings during the market, trombone choirs from Stuttgart and the region climb the 232 steps of the west tower and play Advent music from about 60 metres up. Brass players have played from that tower since 1618.
Worth knowing
- Time a market lunch around the 13:15 organ half-hour.
- Stand on Schillerplatz on a weekend evening to hear the tower brass over the stalls.
