Church of Our Lady before Tyn
Chrám Matky Boží před Týnem50°05′ N 14°25′ E
The Týn Church suits anyone at the Old Town Square market who wants ten quiet minutes inside, since its towers stand right behind the stalls and entry is free. The trade-off is short, split opening hours. On Sundays there is a late Mass at 21:00.

The two Gothic towers of the Týn Church rise right behind the Old Town Square market. The present church dates from the mid-14th century, and Prague City Tourism notes that its 1673 organ is the oldest in Prague. Tycho Brahe worked as astronomer at Rudolf II's court from 1601, and his tombstone is inside. You reach the door through a passage from the house at Staroměstské náměstí 14.
Worth knowing
- Guided commentary is allowed only outside the church.
- Check the parish site, tyn.cz, for Christmas Mass times, which are not on the city listing.
