The Stiftung Frauenkirche Dresden runs the church on the Neumarkt as an open church, and on weekdays you can walk in for free between services and rehearsals. Advent fills the calendar with concerts and services, and the open hours shrink around them, so check the day's times in the foundation's calendar before you go. The church belongs to the international Community of the Cross of Nails, which links more than 200 places that work for peace and reconciliation.
There are seven doors, each lettered. Door D leads into the main hall, and door A is the step-free entrance with a lift. Suitcases and large bags are not allowed inside, during open hours or at services, so leave your luggage at the hotel.
Worth knowing
- Leave large bags behind: the foundation turns away suitcases and big bags at every door.
- Take tram 1, 2 or 4 to the Altmarkt stop, or walk over from the Striezelmarkt in a few minutes.
