The cathedral stands on the Steenstraat between 't Zand and the Markt, which puts it on the walk from the station to the Christmas market. The lower part of the tower goes back to the 11th century, and the present church went up between about 1275 and 1527. The neo-Romanesque top of the tower came between 1844 and 1871.
The cathedral's site lists an organ concert series, and no December dates were up when this page was checked. Weekday Mass is at 18:00, after visiting hours close, and Sunday Mass is at 10:00.
Worth knowing
- On Saturdays the cathedral closes to visitors at 15:30, ahead of the 16:00 Mass.
