The red sandstone Minster forms the backdrop to the Münsterplatz half of the Basel Christmas market. In Advent it stays open on weekdays until 18:00, longer than in the rest of winter, and on Saturdays at 17:00 the Bach um 5 series plays music by and around Bach. The Minster is a Reformed parish church and holds its Sunday service at 10:00, so visitors come in after it ends.
