The city runs its route of lights on low-energy LEDs. In 2025 the Grand Sapin stood 30 metres tall, and its decorations used four symbols: a candle, an Alsatian house, a dove and a heart in kelsch. Kelsch is the traditional checked cloth of Alsace. It woke in light and music every hour from 16:00 to 21:00.
A forest of giant glowing trees, the Forêt féerique, ran up rue de la Mésange to Place Broglie in 2025, and rue des Orfèvres by the cathedral was dressed as a showpiece street. Along the Ill around 400 stars hang over the quays from the Pont du Corbeau to the Pont Saint-Guillaume, and they read best from the Palais Rohan terrace.
Worth knowing
- Be on Place Kléber on the hour between 16:00 and 21:00 for the tree's light and music show, going by the 2025 timetable.
