The Bürgeralpe is Mariazell's own mountain, at 1,267 metres, and its cable car leaves from close to the market on the Hauptplatz. Up top, the trail runs through the Holzknechtland area along lit paths, past glittering trees and a lake with a water show. The market's page puts a sound-to-light laser show at the lookout tower, and the 2026 season adds a talking book that the operator says is the first in Austria.
It runs Thursday to Sunday from 19 November to 20 December 2026, plus 7 and 8 December, and then daily from 26 December to 6 January 2027. The trail opens 16:30 to 19:45. Entry alone costs €16.00 for adults and €9.50 for children aged 6 to 15; with the cable car up and down it's €34.00 and €21.50. A third ticket adds a two-course dinner at the mountain inn.
