On Christmas Day 2026 the Vienna Boys Choir sings Haydn's Missa Sancti Nicolai at the 09:15 Mass in the Hofburg Chapel, and it suits anyone who wants to hear the choir in the setting it was founded for. It is a Catholic Mass and worship first, and seats cost €14 to €52, with free standing places from 08:30.
The Hofburgkapelle is the old court chapel inside the Hofburg, and the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle still provides music for its Sunday and feast-day Masses. On 25 December 2026 the Vienna Boys Choir sings Haydn's Missa Sancti Nicolai with members of the Vienna State Opera orchestra and men's chorus, with Johannes Ebenbauer and Robert Kovács named as the musical leads.
Many seats in the galleries have a restricted view or none. Category 4 listening seats at €14 come with no view or only a screen, so choose category 1 or 2 if you want to see the altar or the orchestra.
The choir also sings Sunday Mass here on 13 and 20 December 2026 and on 27 December, when the setting is Mozart's Coronation Mass.
