The Valkenburg Christmas Parade is a lit procession of floats and costumed dancers through the old town, and it suits families who can stay out into the evening, though it runs on a handful of evenings and most of them are Saturdays, when the town is at its busiest. In 2026 it runs on Saturdays at 19:30 from 14 November and adds Wednesdays at 19:00 from 9 December, with the last parade on 30 December.

Valkenburg's parade goes out after dark, so the lights on the floats carry the whole show. Dancers in costume ride on the wagons and act out a story, and the music was written for the parade, which you can hear on Spotify before you go. The route winds through the narrow streets of the historic centre.
Pick a Wednesday in December if you can. Kerststad Valkenburg asks everyone to avoid weekends, and a Saturday parade adds to an already full day. Locals who come by bike can use a free guarded bike park on the Kerkstraat, near the Halderstraat.
