This daytime parade is the gentlest way to meet Krampus in Salzburg, billed as family-friendly and over before dark. You need to get up to the fortress, by the steep lane or the paid funicular.

The Stefani-Perchten bring their Krampus figures into the Burghof of Hohensalzburg at 15:00 on 29 November, the first Sunday of the fortress Advent market. The tourist board describes it as a Krampus run for families. Brass bands play in the courtyard from 15:30, so you can stay on for the music and the view as the lights come on below.
Masked runners come right up to the crowd, and some will touch or crowd spectators at the front. Stand further back if you or your children don't want contact, and tell children beforehand what they'll see. Nobody should grab at the costumes or masks.
