Munich Krampus Run

Munich's Krampus run suits families with older children and anyone curious about Alpine folk customs, on Sunday 13 December 2026 from 15:00 to 17:00; up to 50,000 people line a short route, so small children may find the crush and the masks too much.
The figures line up on Augustinerstraße and walk through the pedestrian zone, Färbergraben, Rosental and Sendlinger Straße, then by Oberanger, Rindermarkt and Petersplatz to the Viktualienmarkt and the Old Town Hall. The groups come from Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, South Tyrol, the Allgäu and Carinthia, and Munich's own Sparifankerl-Pass group has organized the run with the city since the first one on 12 December 2004.
The masks weigh up to about 10 kg, and the figures play with the crowd, snatching a hat and handing it back. The city says children are welcome at the front. Stand back if a child is frightened, and ask before you touch a costume or take a close photograph.
Worth knowing
- Find a spot on Sendlinger Straße or Rindermarkt before 15:00; the organizer says the route changed slightly for 2026.
